On the past and the future

Major S.S. Sukhi had a dream. He wanted to do something that was not only different, but added value to people’s lives. As a Major in the army, he was called to protect the country, protect her people from the outside danger. Looking back on his experience and skill, he realized that the people in his country required protection from within as well.

Corporate protection in India was something that was sorely needed. Yet, there was a dearth of professional security services across the country. And so, Security and Personnel Services Pvt. Ltd., became a reality in September, 1965.

It all started with one office in Mumbai and with its commitment to corporate governance and ethics, we, at SPS changed the way the industry looked at security. Commitment and dedication never go unrewarded, and by 1981, we had 2500 employees and offices in Ahmadabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

After the demise of Major Sukhi, his dream not only lives on but has grown under the able and dynamic leadership of his successor.

Not only has he proved to be a great leader, he has improved on the task and under his leadership the group has grown exponentially in the past decade. It has been his drive along with his absolutely uncompromising stand where the ethics of business are concerned that has brought about this growth.

Always being aware of what is the need of the hour, we realized that just supplying personnel is not enough and so we expanded our services to include consulting services and training personnel.

As we continued to grow, one of our major concerns was how we could add value to what we were already offering and soon we came to realize, that in order for an industry to function well and run smoothly, it is not only the big decisions that need to be sound.

What is also equally important is how conducive the place is to creative thinking and decision making. If the small things like the lifts and the A.C do not work; if the place is not kept spotlessly clean, how can the movers and thinkers of the firm be expected to do their bit? And so our Facility Management arm was created in 2005 to take care of all those little things that can be terribly annoying and cause low productivity if they don’t work.

In August, 2009, we started Sukhi Orion Systems, which are end to end security solutions. Right from installation & maintenance of CCTVs to access control and biometric systems for home and business security, we help you to protect your home and your family.

And we didn’t stop there. In October, 2010, Youtility Technologies Private Ltd. was set up. Currently we offer software products for facility management, people management, site audits and security.

Today our services include Security Manpower Training, Event security, Executive Production, Business Intelligence, Technology integration, Project Management and Facilities Management.

In 50 years, we have grown to 16 offices across the country and are happy to be of service to prestigious clients like – ICICI bank, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., UTV Television, Lifestyle, Grand Hyatt etc., Reliance Group etc
